Tiny Home, Container & Modular Housing Events, Expos & Organizations

Last updated: August 19, 2026
Written and researched by the Luxe Box Homes Research Desk · Information last checked August 2026

Whether you want to walk through real tiny homes before committing to a builder, or you're trying to find the official body that actually sets standards for a category, this guide covers both: real, currently-scheduled expos and trade shows across tiny, container, and modular housing, plus the legitimate industry organizations behind them. Event dates move and organizations occasionally merge or rebrand, so we've noted our confidence level on anything uncertain rather than presenting every listing as equally solid.

TL;DR
  • Consumer-facing events (open to the public, tour real homes): TinyFest California, World of Tiny Homes (Las Vegas), Fresno Fall Home Show, Great American Tiny House Show's touring stops.
  • Trade-only events (industry professionals, not open to the public): World of Modular, the Louisville Manufactured Housing Show, MHI's Congress and Expo.
  • Two organizations split tiny-home advocacy: ATHA handles legalization/zoning advocacy, THIA handles construction standards.
  • Manufactured, modular, and RV-classified THOWs each have their own dedicated trade association (MHI, MBI, RVIA/NOAH respectively).
  • No dedicated national barndominium organization exists — they fall under general post-frame and metal-building industry groups instead.

1. Consumer-Facing Events & Expos

These are open to the public and generally the best way to actually walk through multiple builders' homes side by side before making a decision.

TinyFest California

April 18–19, 2026 · Orange County, CA

Tours of tiny homes on wheels, ADUs, van conversions, and modular builds, with builder and speaker panels. One of the longer-running consumer tiny house festivals in the country.1

Carolina Tiny House Festival

Listed June 2026 · Concord, NC (status uncertain)

Multiple ticketing and listing sites show this event scheduled for early June 2026 at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center.2 However, the organizer's own site posted a notice about organizational changes and described "pausing to regroup," without confirming the 2026 event is proceeding as listed elsewhere.3 We were not able to resolve this conflict; confirm directly with the organizer before planning travel around this one.

Uncertain status: third-party ticket sites list this event as scheduled, but the organizer's own site suggests a possible pause. Verify directly before booking travel.

World of Tiny Homes Tradeshow

October 8–10, 2026 · Las Vegas Convention Center, NV

A tiny home-focused tradeshow at the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall.4

Fresno Fall Home Show & Tiny House Expo

November 6–8, 2026 · Fresno Fairgrounds, CA

Now in its 9th year as part of the broader Fresno Fall Home Improvement Show, featuring tiny homes, container homes, and modular units from multiple builders.5,6

Great American Tiny House Show

Touring series · multiple U.S. cities throughout the year

Not a single event but a touring exhibition series that visits different cities and fairgrounds, typically featuring 20+ tiny homes, ADUs, container homes, and skoolies per stop. Check their site directly for the current schedule and the stop nearest you.7

2. Trade-Only Events (Industry Professionals)

These are not open to the general public, but they're worth knowing about if you're a builder, or if you want to understand who actually shapes standards in this space.

World of Modular

April 20–23, 2026 · Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV

The flagship annual conference and trade show for the commercial modular and offsite construction industry, hosted by the Modular Building Institute. Draws close to 2,000 industry professionals; not open to the public.8

Louisville Manufactured Housing Show

January 14–16, 2026 · Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, KY

The nation's largest indoor show for manufactured home industry professionals, now in its 65th year. Explicitly not open to the general public.9,10

MHI Congress and Expo

April 2026 · Las Vegas, NV

The Manufactured Housing Institute's major spring industry event, drawing over 1,500 manufactured housing professionals.11

3. Official Industry Organizations

These are the actual trade associations and standards bodies behind each housing category — useful if you want to verify a certification, research current advocacy, or find a legitimate source of industry data.

American Tiny House Association (ATHA)

Legalization & Zoning Advocacy

Founded 2015. Focuses on making tiny houses legal nationwide through local zoning advocacy, education, and connecting volunteers with municipalities on ordinance language.12,13

Tiny Home Industry Association (THIA)

Construction Standards

Founded 2016, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association. Works alongside ATHA with a different focus: developing construction standards and best practices, and pursuing recognition as an official ANSI standards developer for tiny homes.14,15

Modular Building Institute (MBI)

Commercial Modular Construction

Founded 1983. The international nonprofit trade association for commercial modular and offsite construction, representing manufacturers, contractors, and dealers. Hosts World of Modular.8,16

Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI)

Manufactured & HUD Code Housing

Founded 1975. The national trade organization representing all segments of the factory-built (HUD Code) housing industry, from manufacturers to community operators to lenders.17,18

RV Industry Association (RVIA)

RV & Park Model Certification

The long-established certification body for RVs and Park Model RVs, including some tiny homes on wheels manufactured to RVIA/NFPA 1192 standards. RVIA certification is explicitly for temporary, not full-time, occupancy.19,20

National Organization of Alternative Housing (NOAH)

THOW Certification (Alternative to RVIA)

Founded 2015 specifically to fill a gap RVIA didn't cover: certification for tiny houses on wheels intended for full-time living, including DIY builds, which RVIA doesn't accept. Nationally accredited through ANSI.19,21

On barndominiums specifically: we could not find a dedicated national trade association or certification body specific to barndominiums. They're generally built under general post-frame ("pole barn") or pre-engineered metal building construction methods, which fall under broader metal-building and agricultural-structure industry groups rather than a barndominium-specific organization. If you're researching a barndominium build, the closest equivalent resources are general post-frame builder associations at the state level, not a single national body.

Research record: Event dates and locations were cross-checked across multiple independent listing sources where possible (ticketing sites, event calendars, and the organizer's own site) since these details change frequently and listing sites are sometimes stale. Where sources conflicted, as with the Carolina Tiny House Festival, we noted the conflict directly rather than picking one source silently. Trade-only events were confirmed as not open to the public directly from organizer materials. Information last checked August 2026 — always confirm current dates directly with the organizer before planning travel.
